Russian war correspondent Aleksandr Kots says US plans to send Tomahawk or other long-range missiles to Ukraine could spark World War III and urges Washington to assess the risks.

Russian military journalist Aleksandr Kots explained what types of long-range missiles the United States might transfer to Ukraine and how this could happen.

Earlier, The Wall Street Journal reported that the current White House administration is considering approving the transfer of long-range missiles to Kyiv, including the Tomahawk cruise missile, which is capable of carrying a nuclear warhead. Kots argued that if the US takes this step, it would mark the beginning of a third world war. He urged Washington to weigh the real risks of such a decision.

He also suggested that if the United States ultimately refuses to supply Tomahawks, it might choose other systems. Among them, Kots named air-launched JASSM cruise missiles, ATACMS tactical ballistic missiles in the MGM-140B Block 1A modification, as well as PrSM missiles with a range exceeding 500 kilometers. He noted, however, that mass deliveries of such weapons are unlikely because the US itself has a limited stock.

Kots added that Washington is unlikely to supply these missiles to Ukraine directly. Instead, he believes the transfer could be arranged under NATO mechanisms: European partners would formally purchase the missiles for their own use and then hand them over to Ukraine.
