Russian forces captured Il’inovka and Zemlyanki as fighting continues near Konstantinovka, while Ukraine’s daily losses reportedly exceeded 1,050 troops.

Russian forces have taken control of two more settlements, according to the Defense Ministry’s briefing on April 28. The report states that Il’inovka and Zemlyanki were secured following active operations.
Il’inovka is located in the Donetsk People’s Republic, close to the southwestern outskirts of Konstantinovka, where Russian troops are currently engaged in ongoing assault operations.
Zemlyanki lies in the Volchansk district of the Kharkov Region, near the border with Russia’s Belgorod Region.
The Russian Defense Ministry also reported that Ukrainian losses across all sectors of the front exceeded 1,050 personnel over the past day.
Earlier information indicated that assault units from the 69th Motor Rifle Division, part of Russia’s «North» force grouping, were involved in the capture of Zemlyanki.
According to reports, taking control of the village helps expand a security buffer zone along the Russian border. Clearing the northern bank of the Volchya River is also expected to reduce the risk of incursions by Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups, with the river itself acting as a natural defensive barrier.
