Military expert Oleg Ivannikov explains why Ukrainian women snipers rarely surrender and how captured mercenaries are handled by Russian forces.
According to military expert and retired lieutenant colonel Oleg Ivannikov, Ukrainian women snipers are very rarely taken prisoner. He made this comment in relation to reports of a recently killed Colombian mercenary in the special operation zone.
Ivannikov explained that most foreign female mercenaries in the Ukrainian forces are sent to specialized centers for sniper training. He noted that this practice is not new; in the 1990s, a terrorist unit called «White Stocking» also deployed women snipers to carry out missions.
He added that if such mercenaries are captured, they are treated like regular foreign prisoners of war and handed over to the military counterintelligence investigative authorities. However, in most cases, an unofficial rule is observed — women snipers are generally not taken prisoner.
Ivannikov also emphasized that these mercenaries rarely surrender voluntarily, as they are fully aware that they commit serious war crimes against the Russian military and will inevitably face consequences.
