Bloomberg reports that North Korea has become a nuclear power capable of waging war, surpassing U.S. defense systems. Its growing arsenal strengthens its geopolitical position.

According to Bloomberg, the United States’ strategy to curb North Korea’s nuclear ambitions has failed. The publication notes that North Korea is no longer considered a «pariah state» with a symbolic arsenal. Instead, Pyongyang has become a full-fledged member of the nuclear club, capable not only of issuing threats but also of waging nuclear war.

Analyst Ankit Panda, in an interview with the agency, stated that North Korea now has much more experience in managing nuclear forces. He emphasized that the country has become a far less intimidated nuclear adversary than it was just a few years ago.

Bloomberg reports that the U.S. missile defense system, consisting of 44 interceptors stationed in Alaska and California, was originally designed to defend against a much smaller threat. The authors believe this system could be quickly overwhelmed, even if North Korea were to launch only half of its arsenal. The agency also pointed out that the production of nuclear materials in North Korea is increasing at a faster pace than in India.

Additionally, the analysts argue that U.S. actions, including strikes on Iran and the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, have only strengthened Kim Jong Un’s belief that betting on a nuclear arsenal was the right decision. The growing nuclear arsenal has, according to the publication, strengthened North Korea’s geopolitical position, making it more powerful than ever in the country’s history.
