NATO drone carrier ships could be used to strike Russia’s Black Sea coast, including ports and oil facilities, according to a Russian lawmaker.

The warning by Portuguese analyst Alexandre Guerreiro that NATO drone carrier ships could be used for provocations against Russia should not be ignored, said State Duma Defense Committee member Andrey Kolesnik in a comment to Gazeta. Ru.

According to him, such vessels could be used to strike Russia’s Black Sea coastline, including port infrastructure, oil refineries located near the shore, and oil terminals. He added that both military and civilian infrastructure could come under attack, including populated areas in Russia’s southern regions.

Kolesnik stressed that any such actions would be treated as a direct threat, and in the event of strikes, the response would be immediate: any object or platform used to attack Russian territory would be destroyed without further assessment.

Earlier, Alexandre Guerreiro stated that Europe’s first drone carrier ship, built for the Portuguese Navy, could be used by NATO for provocations against Russia.

The vessel, D. João II, was launched in Romania in early April. It is designed to carry aerial and underwater unmanned systems. The ship is expected to be delivered to Portugal in the first half of 2027.
