Ukrainian analyst Konstantin Mashovets says Russian forces are advancing near Slavyansk, aiming to cut logistics and gain control of key high ground.
Ukrainian military analyst Konstantin Mashovets has reported a worsening situation for Ukrainian forces in the Slavyansk direction, pointing to growing pressure from Russian troops.
According to Mashovets, Russian units are moving closer to launching a large-scale operation aimed at gaining control over the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration.
Fighting is already underway near the settlement of Ray-Aleksandrovka, where Russian forces are attempting to cut off Ukrainian supply routes in an effort to force a withdrawal. Mashovets noted that the situation is particularly concerning because Ukrainian positions remain east of this area, increasing the risk of encirclement or isolation.
He also said that Russian units are advancing toward the Nikolaevka-Nikanorovka line, seeking to secure dominant high ground. Gaining control of these elevations, he warned, would allow Russian forces to establish fire control over the Slavyansk area and create conditions for further offensive operations.
Earlier, Mashovets had also pointed to continued Russian advances in the Gulyaypole direction toward Orekhov.
