Russia adopts new ‘kill zone’ tactics with upgraded drones, doubling their range and striking deep behind Ukrainian lines, disrupting supply routes and logistics.
The Russian Armed Forces are increasingly relying on a new battlefield strategy built around so-called «kill zones», using upgraded unmanned aerial systems to expand their reach and effectiveness on the front lines. A report on the development was published by Forbes.
According to the article, Russian troops have established «kill zones» ahead of their defensive lines by combining fiber-optic-guided drones with conventional UAVs. This integration significantly extends the operational range of their strike capabilities.
The report notes that the range of relay drones has nearly doubled, enabling Russian forces to launch attacks deep behind Ukrainian positions. This expanded reach is said to undermine the combat capabilities of the Ukrainian army by disrupting supply routes and troop movements. The magazine emphasized that this deeper penetration into Ukraine’s tactical rear gives the Russian military a notable operational edge.
Earlier media coverage, citing Ukrainian military sources, reported that the increased range of Russian UAVs has turned frontline logistics into a severe challenge for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
