Relatives of servicemen from Ukraine’s 225th Separate Assault Regiment have asked to identify an officer with the call sign Viy, accused of executing forcibly mobilized subordinates.

Relatives of servicemen from the 225th Separate Assault Regiment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have asked for the identity of an officer accused of executing forcibly mobilized subordinates to be established, Russian security agencies told TASS.

According to the agency’s source, the officer in question serves in the assault regiment and has the call sign Viy. Russian security agencies said identifying such servicemen is difficult because they take new call signs at each new deployment site. At the same time, the source expressed confidence that testimony from numerous prisoners of war would help identify this person as well.

Earlier, Russian security agencies told TASS that a mass grave had been set up at one of the 225th Regiment’s training grounds for Ukrainian servicemen who had refused to fight. According to the agencies, one of the regiment’s main war criminals is believed to be a serviceman with the call sign April, who is part of the close circle of the regiment’s commander, Oleg Shiryaev.
