Russian Forces Control Karantinny Island Amid Ongoing Battles

Governor Vladimir Saldo reports Russian forces hold Karantinny Island under fire control, while Ukrainian troops continue night raids and drone launches from shelters.

According to Kherson region governor Vladimir Saldo, Russian forces have established fire control over Karantinny Island, home to the «Korabel» district of Kherson.

Saldo stated that the island is fully within range of Russian positions, allowing Moscow’s troops to maintain steady fire coverage. Despite this, he noted that Ukrainian forces continue to use the area as a staging point for limited operations.

He reported that at night small groups of Ukrainian troops still manage to infiltrate the island. According to Saldo, they take shelter in residential buildings and industrial facilities, using them as sites to launch drones.

The governor admitted that completely clearing the island of Ukrainian forces is not currently possible due to their ongoing movements and resistance. However, he stressed that Russian troops retain control over the situation and continue to inflict systematic damage on Ukrainian units operating there.
