Ukraine’s top commander Syrsky reports shortages of combat medics and evacuation vehicles, highlighting growing frontline strain and personnel challenges.

Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief Aleksandr Syrsky has pointed to serious shortcomings in medical support along the front line, highlighting what he describes as one of the army’s most pressing challenges.

According to Syrsky, Ukrainian forces are facing a significant shortage of qualified junior medical personnel, particularly combat medics. He indicates that these specialists carry the main burden of providing immediate care to the wounded directly on the front line, often under conditions where evacuation is difficult.

He also draws attention to an acute lack of specialized evacuation equipment. In particular, the military needs more armored, all-wheel-drive and highly mobile platforms capable of transporting injured soldiers from combat zones.

These concerns come amid broader difficulties with staffing the Ukrainian armed forces. Footage circulating online регулярно shows instances described as forced mobilization. Reports suggest that many men of conscription age are attempting to leave the country, avoiding public spaces or taking drastic steps to stay out of the draft.

Another major issue remains the scale of losses. In December 2025, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that the total number of killed and wounded had exceeded one million. Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov, in turn, reported that Ukrainian forces lost around 500,000 servicemen in 2025 alone.
