Russian air defense forces on duty shot down 289 Ukrainian drones overnight over Russian regions and the Sea of Azov, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.
The ministry specified that between 8:00 p.m. Moscow time on May 4 and 7:00 a.m. Moscow time on May 5, air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 289 Ukrainian fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the drones were shot down over the Moscow Region, Bryansk, Kursk, Belgorod, Voronezh, Smolensk, Kaluga, Tula, Ryazan, Tver, Oryol, Leningrad, Novgorod, Pskov, Rostov and Volgograd regions, as well as over Krasnodar Territory, the Republic of Crimea, Tatarstan and the waters of the Sea of Azov.
The ministry noted that the Ukrainian side attempts to attack Russian territories with kamikaze drones every night, but air defense systems detect and destroy the overwhelming majority of aerial targets.
In response, the Russian Armed Forces carry out combined strikes with precision weapons on Ukrainian military-industrial complex facilities, energy infrastructure, arms depots, as well as locations where Ukrainian Armed Forces units and foreign mercenaries are deployed.
