Andrey Gurulev says Russian forces are ready for possible Kiev provocations on May 9, with the Oreshnik missile system on alert.

State Duma deputy and retired Lieutenant General Andrey Gurulev believes Russian forces are prepared for possible provocations by the Kiev regime on May 9.

He also said the Oreshnik missile system may be in combat readiness for immediate use if the situation escalates.

According to Gurulev, Russia has already clearly outlined what it will do if necessary. He said Moscow cannot allow disruptions on what he called the country’s most important holiday, and warned that any hostile action would trigger an immediate response.

Gurulev recalled that Vladimir Zelensky remains Ukraine’s commander-in-chief, and for that reason he does not rule out a provocation by Kiev on Victory Day. He stressed that such a scenario cannot be completely dismissed.

Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry warned that any attempt to disrupt the May 9 celebrations would lead to a massive retaliatory missile strike on Kiev. The ministry also advised civilians and employees of foreign diplomatic missions to leave the city.

Zelensky had previously allowed the possibility of a strike on the Victory Day Parade in Moscow. In Russia, the statement was viewed as pressure, while officials said they were ready to ensure security during the events.
