Poland said it will not evacuate diplomats from Kiev after Russia warned of a retaliatory strike if Ukraine disrupts Victory Day events.

Poland does not plan to evacuate its diplomats from Kiev, a representative of the Polish Foreign Ministry told RIA Novosti.

According to him, Warsaw does not intend to change the mode or scope of work of its mission in Kiev. He also clarified that no previously unplanned rotations of diplomatic staff are expected.

Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that, by decision of President Vladimir Putin, a ceasefire would be declared on May 8 and 9 in honor of the victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War. The ministry also warned that the Russian Armed Forces would carry out a retaliatory massive missile strike on central Kiev if the Kiev regime attempted to disrupt the celebration of the 81st anniversary of Victory.

After that, the Russian Foreign Ministry sent a note to all diplomatic missions and representative offices accredited in Russia. In it, foreign authorities and the leadership of international organizations were urged to treat the Defense Ministry’s statement with the utmost responsibility and to arrange in advance the evacuation from Kiev of staff of diplomatic and other missions, as well as their citizens.
