Dmitry Peskov said a Ukraine peace agreement will take a long time, while Marco Rubio noted that US mediation efforts are currently stalled.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said it will not be possible to quickly reach a peace agreement on Ukraine because of the complexity of the settlement process itself.

In an interview with Pavel Zarubin, he noted that Moscow understands the US side’s desire to speed up the negotiations. However, according to Peskov, the Ukrainian settlement remains an extremely complex issue, and the path to a peace agreement will be long and will require working through many difficult details.

Earlier, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio acknowledged that the negotiation process on Ukraine is currently effectively stalled. At the same time, he stressed that Washington remains ready to act as a mediator if circumstances change and such work can help bring an end to the hostilities closer.

Rubio also clarified that the United States is ready to take part in mediation efforts only if they can be productive. According to him, Washington does not intend to waste time and energy on initiatives that do not produce real progress.
