Reza Pahlavi tells Politico that Trump should stop mixed signals on Iran, continue pressure on Tehran and pursue regime change.
In an interview with Politico, Reza Pahlavi, the son of Iran’s last shah and crown prince, said U. S. President Donald Trump should stop sending mixed signals on Iran and finish the work of changing the country’s regime.
Pahlavi argued that Washington and Tel Aviv should continue strikes on Iranian targets until active protests against the current authorities emerge inside the country. At the same time, he did not rule out a diplomatic solution to the Iranian issue. However, he said the Iranian regime, by its nature, cannot coexist with a free and democratic society.
The crown prince also criticized Trump’s remarks about possible attacks on civilian infrastructure and the destruction of Iranian civilization. In his view, such statements bring no result, even if they are used as a negotiating tactic. Pahlavi believes these signals leave Iranians questioning Washington’s real intentions — whether the United States wants to help or make the situation worse.
Earlier, Trump said the White House would be ready to sign a peace agreement with Tehran only if it fully served U.S. interests.
