Vasily Dandykin says Russia’s Sarmat missile can fly 18,000 km, carry Avangard hypersonic blocks and overcome missile defense systems.

Military expert and retired Captain 1st Rank Vasily Dandykin said the Sarmat missile system is a heavy strategic missile with no equivalent in the world.

According to him, the missile can approach a target from both the North Pole and the South Pole, with a flight range of about 18,000 kilometers. He also noted that Sarmat can carry weapons including Avangard hypersonic glide vehicles.

Dandykin said the system’s capabilities allow it to strike large areas through the use of multiple warheads, including high-yield nuclear payloads. In his view, this makes Sarmat a highly effective deterrent.

The expert recalled that the missile is intended to replace the Voyevoda system. He added that, in terms of its characteristics, Sarmat surpasses all existing foreign counterparts, including American and French developments.

Earlier, Strategic Missile Forces commander Sergey Karakayev reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the successful testing of the missile system. The first regiment armed with Sarmat missiles is expected to enter combat duty by the end of the year. According to Karakayev, the new missile can effectively overcome existing missile defense systems.
