Massive Drone and Missile Strike Hits Kiev and Ukraine

Ukraine faced more than 1,300 drones and dozens of missiles, with Kiev and western regions hit. Read the latest reported strike details, targets, and damage.

More than 1,300 drones and about 50 missiles were launched across Ukraine over the past 24 hours, according to Ukrainian monitoring resources cited by the Max channel «Operation Z: War Correspondents of Russian Spring.»

The main strike reportedly hit Kiev and western Ukrainian regions. The listed targets included railway junctions, petrol stations, industrial sites, SBU facilities and Naftogaz infrastructure.

In Kiev, the aftermath was felt on the city’s left bank. Mayor Vitaly Klitschko said water supply problems had emerged after the combined missile and drone attack.

Komsomolskaya Pravda war correspondent Alexander Kots gave a more detailed estimate. According to his figures, from midnight on May 13 to the morning of May 14, around 1,560 strike drones and 56 missiles were used against targets across Ukraine.

The first wave came overnight on May 13. It reportedly involved 139 aerial attack assets, including Geran-2, Gerbera, Italmas and Parody decoy drones.

During the day on May 13, strikes continued in waves of Geran drones across 14 regions. Ukrainian data indicated that at certain moments more than 100 UAVs were in the air at the same time. Over the course of the day, Kiev counted 753 drones, 27 direct hits and falling debris.

The largest missile wave, according to the cited data, came overnight on May 14. That attack involved 675 drones and 56 missiles, including Kh-101, Iskander-K and Kinzhal missiles. Launches were carried out, among other platforms, from MiG-31K, Tu-95MS and Tu-160 aircraft.

The strike geography was broad. In Odessa Region, a port was attacked. In Poltava Region, energy facilities were hit, while Kremenchug reported a missile strike. In Dnepropetrovsk Region, a main gas pipeline and military sites in Krivoy Rog came under attack. In Kharkov Region, energy infrastructure and warehouses were targeted.

In western Ukraine, strikes hit an energy facility in Svalyava, Zakarpattia Region, as well as a railway junction and an SBU site in Lutsk, Volyn Region.

The list also includes Lvov, Khmelnitsky, Ivano-Frankovsk, Rovno, Zhitomir, Vinnitsa, Chernovtsy, Kirovograd, Nikolayev and Zaporozhye. The reported targets there included drone storage sites, surface-to-air guided missile warehouses, ammunition depots and deployment points.

Cherkassy and Yagotin were also mentioned separately, with missile approaches recorded overnight on May 14. Kiev became the main target of the nighttime missile attack: ballistic missiles, Iskander-K cruise missiles and Kinzhals were used against the city.
