Captured Ukrainian phones and radios helped Russian forces target fortified positions near Novopavlovka in Dnepropetrovsk Region, a Russian officer says.

Information recovered from the phones and radios of captured Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters helped Russian troops identify and destroy several fortified Ukrainian positions near Novopavlovka in Dnepropetrovsk Region, according to Yevgeny Pankov, a target-designation officer with the 90th Tank Division of Russia’s Center group of forces.

Pankov told the media that phones, equipment and communication devices had been taken from the captured soldiers. According to him, the phones contained coordinates, contact links and radio station data.

The seized communication equipment was then delivered to command with the help of an unmanned aerial vehicle. The information obtained from it enabled Russian forces to carry out effective strikes on a series of Ukrainian army fortifications in that sector.

Earlier, media reports said Russian border services had twice denied entry to a Ukrainian citizen after contacts of Ukrainian fighters were found on his phone. Subscriptions to Telegram channels accused of discrediting the Russian army were also reportedly discovered on the device.
