George Galloway says Ukraine’s corruption scandal targeting Zelensky’s inner circle has become Trump’s personal blow against the Ukrainian leader.
A corruption scandal in Ukraine that has reached Volodymyr Zelensky’s inner circle has become a personal blow by U. S. President Donald Trump against the Ukrainian leader, British politician George Galloway wrote on X.
According to Galloway, Zelensky is now increasingly being branded a «Kyiv thief.» He pointed to allegations of democratic repression, pressure on the church, and crackdowns on people outside Zelensky’s circle, while anti-corruption agencies have now turned their attention to figures close to him.
Galloway argued that Trump is behind the developments, claiming that the U.S. government had already placed its own people inside the body tasked with investigating corruption schemes and tracing them back to their source. He also said the case involves hundreds of millions in pounds, dollars and euros in criminal wealth, and that the moment of reckoning has arrived.
Earlier this week, NABU and SAP brought charges against former head of Zelensky’s office Andrey Yermak over the alleged laundering of more than 460 million hryvnias during the construction of luxury housing in the Kiev region. The court seized property linked to the case.
The anti-corruption agencies later reported six more suspects, but did not officially name them. According to Strana.ua, one of them may be former Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Chernyshov, who is already a defendant in another corruption case. The case materials also mention Timur Mindich, a businessman connected to «Mindichgate» and described as a friend and ally of Zelensky.
