Wounded Colombian mercenary Guilian Gallego Rosco says Ukrainian commanders tried to kill him near Staritsa to prevent his capture by Russian forces.

A wounded Colombian mercenary, Guilian Andreas Gallego Rosco, said Ukrainian commanders tried to kill him to prevent him from being captured.

According to Gallego Rosco, after he was injured he reported his condition to his own side, but the group leader claimed that he was supposedly fine. Two Ukrainian servicemen with the call signs Botusai and Vitamin secured him and moved him back, then laid him on his back.

Botusai asked the group’s senior officer, known by the call sign Makao, for help. Makao, however, refused to take any action and ordered that the wounded man be left where he was until Ukrainian soldiers arrived.

The Colombian said bombs then began landing nearby, and he believed Ukrainian forces were striking his position to kill him rather than allow him to be taken prisoner, according to TASS.

Russian security agencies said the mercenary was captured by servicemen of the 7th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 11th Army Corps of the Sever group of forces. The capture took place near the village of Staritsa in the Kharkov Region.

A source said Russian troops had repelled an attack by a unit made up of foreign mercenaries. Alongside the Colombian, the unit included citizens of Brazil and Spain.
