Russian forces gain 7 km in eastern Zaporozhye and Dnepropetrovsk, nearing a key highway that could enable a southern flanking move and reshape the front line.
Russian troops are pressing forward in the eastern parts of the Zaporozhye and Dnepropetrovsk regions, with their offensive gaining noticeable momentum in recent days. According to reports, assault units of the Russian army have advanced to within just 12 kilometers of the strategically significant Pokrovskoye-Gulyaypole highway, marking a territorial gain of roughly seven kilometers. If the current pace continues, analysts suggest that Russian forces could reach the key roadway within two weeks, Donbass Segodnya reported.
Securing control over this highway would hold significant strategic value. It would allow maneuvering westward toward Orekhov and enable Russian troops to outflank Ukrainian positions around Gulyaypole from the south. For Ukrainian forces, losing this route would be a major setback — their defensive depth would shrink, and the transfer of reinforcements would slow due to strikes on railway infrastructure.
In effect, Russian forces are steadily working to close one of the most critical sections of the front, a sector considered vital by both sides.
In the border areas of Dnepropetrovsk region, Russian operations are being carried out by two main strike groups. The «Center» grouping is intensifying pressure on Novopavlovka from the east and south, expanding its bridgehead for a future push. At the same time, the «East» grouping has secured positions in Kalinovskoe, broken into the eastern part of Verbovoe from the direction of Stepovoe, and launched an assault on the settlement. Meanwhile, heavy fighting continues in neighboring Novogrigorovka in Zaporozhye region.
In total, the area of Russian territorial gains in this sector is estimated at around 12 square kilometers.
