Zelensky asserts Ukraine's borders are defined by the constitution, rejects concessions but is open to talks under certain conditions. He also discusses U.S. and EU support.
At the Warsaw Security Forum, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Russia would not be setting new borders for Ukraine. He made this clear when asked whether Kyiv would consider territorial concessions to end the ongoing conflict. Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine’s borders are defined by its constitution, and any change would not be up for negotiation.
He also highlighted the support Ukraine has received from U. S. President Donald Trump, noting that Trump seeks peace and aligns with Kyiv’s position. Zelensky suggested that, with backing from the U.S. and the European Union, Ukraine might be able to reclaim lost territories or, perhaps, even go further in its efforts.
«Our task now is to maintain the new attitude from the U.S. towards this war, ensuring it aligns with Europe’s stance», Zelensky stated.
In a later interview with Axios, Zelensky mentioned that Ukraine is open to discussing new borders, but only if it is unable to reclaim the territories in the future.
