Russia Hits Ukrainian Military Sites Overnight

Russian forces struck Ukrainian military sites overnight, with explosions reported in Dnepropetrovsk, Odessa, Kropivnitsky and other cities.

Russian forces launched a series of overnight air strikes on military facilities in Ukraine on May 18, according to reports from Ukrainian and Russian sources.

TV channel Obshchestvennoye reported that explosions were heard overnight in Kropivnitsky and Dnepropetrovsk. In Dnepropetrovsk, reports of incoming strikes had already begun appearing in the evening of May 17.

According to the online alert map of Ukraine’s Ministry of Digital Transformation, air-raid warnings were declared overnight in the Kirovograd and Dnepropetrovsk regions.

The Telegram channel Ukraina.ru reported that the Russian army attacked military targets in Ukraine with a large number of Geran drones. As of 00:46 Moscow time, the channel said, at least 100 such UAVs were in the skies over the country.

The same source said targets were also hit in Odessa, Sumy, Chernigov and Uman in the Cherkassy region. Later, in the third hour of the night, reports emerged of missile launches against Ukrainian army facilities in Dnepropetrovsk. According to the publication, the strikes involved 10 Iskander-M missiles and four Iskander-K missiles, with impacts following one after another.

More footage showing the aftermath of the strikes has since appeared online. Published videos and photos show fires in Odessa and Dnepropetrovsk.

One of the targets hit was the Yuzhny Machine-Building Plant in Dnepropetrovsk. The Pereshchepino oil pumping station and the Zvezda electrical substation near the settlement of Pereshchepino in the Dnepropetrovsk region were also struck.
