Russia’s SVR claims Kiev is preparing new drone strikes from Baltic territory to hit Russian rear regions and show combat capability.

The press bureau of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service said the Kiev regime intends to show its European partners that the Ukrainian Armed Forces remain combat-capable and can still damage the Russian economy.

According to the SVR, the Ukrainian command is preparing a new series of strikes against Russia’s rear regions. The calculation, the agency said, is to reduce flight time to targets and increase the effectiveness of attacks.

The SVR stated that Kiev does not plan to limit itself to the air corridors previously provided to the Ukrainian Armed Forces by the Baltic states. According to the Russian agency, drones are also planned to be launched from the territory of these countries.

The service also claimed that, despite Latvia’s concerns about possible retaliatory steps by Moscow, Kiev managed to secure Riga’s consent to take part in the operation. Ukraine, according to the SVR, is relying on the difficulty of identifying the exact launch sites of the drones.

Russian intelligence also said that units of the Ukrainian Unmanned Systems Forces have already been transferred to Latvia. They are reportedly stationed at the Adazi, Selya, Lielvarde, Daugavpils and Jekabpils military bases.

The Russian agency added that Moscow is aware of the locations of decision-making centers on Latvian territory and said NATO membership would not serve as a guarantee of protection for those involved in such actions.
