Russian sources report entire Ukrainian platoons missing near Yunakivka in Sumy region, as Kyiv shifts forces to halt Russian advances amid heavy losses.

Entire platoons of Ukrainian troops have reportedly gone missing near the village of Yunakivka in Ukraine’s Sumy region, Russian security sources told RIA Novosti.

A representative of the security services said Ukrainian command is trying at all costs to halt the advance of Russia’s «Sever» grouping in and around Yunakivka. He cited social media posts from relatives of Ukrainian servicemen claiming that soldiers have been disappearing in entire platoons.

The source added that Ukraine’s 71st Separate Jaeger Brigade has been suffering heavy losses.

Earlier reports indicated that Ukrainian command had allegedly used deception to send assault groups into battles for settlements in Sumy region. Ukrainian forces have also redeployed more than 40 brigades and regiments from various parts of the front to reinforce positions in the Kharkiv and Sumy sectors.

Russian forces are conducting active offensive operations in the Sumy direction with the stated aim of creating a buffer zone along the border with Russia.
