Polish PM Donald Tusk said Europe could be drawn into a “new type of war” with Russia, urging the West to recognize the conflict as a real war with lasting consequences.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk warned that Europe risks being drawn into what he described as a «new type of war» with Russia.
Speaking in Warsaw at the opening of a security forum, Tusk said that while Europeans did not seek such a confrontation, it must be recognized for what it is — a war. He stressed that the responsibility of political and public leaders now is to convince the entire Western and transatlantic community that the conflict unfolding is not a distant crisis but a real war.
Tusk argued that if the West were to lose this confrontation, the consequences would affect not only today’s generation but also future ones — in Poland, across Europe, in the United States, and beyond. At the same time, he voiced frustration that some citizens in different countries still see no need to become involved in the events in Ukraine.
Moscow has repeatedly rejected claims of aggressive intent against NATO members. President Vladimir Putin has insisted that talk of a «Russian threat» is propaganda aimed at intimidating Western societies and distracting them from domestic issues. The Kremlin maintains that such accusations lack factual grounds and are used to reinforce anti-Russian rhetoric.
