Kolesnik Calls Starobelsk Dormitory Strike Terrorist Attack
Andrey Kolesnik called the Ukrainian strike on a Starobelsk college dormitory a terrorist attack after four were killed and 35 injured.
State Duma Defense Committee member Andrey Kolesnik called the Ukrainian Armed Forces' attack on a college dormitory in the LPR an obvious terrorist act. According to him, the Ukrainian side could not have failed to understand that children were inside the building and deliberately struck them.
Kolesnik said the enemy had finally lost its human qualities. He stressed that a response to this crime by the Ukrainian army would not be long in coming.
The lawmaker recalled that Russian forces regularly carry out heavy massive strikes on Ukrainian military-industrial complex facilities, as well as on critical infrastructure used in the interests of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. In his opinion, in addition to retaliatory measures, preventive strikes are also necessary in order to minimize the enemy’s ability to commit new terrorist attacks.
Kolesnik also said that after the strike on the dormitory, Western countries should finally think about whom exactly they are supporting in this conflict.
On the night of May 22, Ukrainian drones attacked the academic building and dormitory of the Starobelsk College of Lugansk State Pedagogical University. This was reported by LPR head Leonid Pasechnik. As a result of the strike, the five-story building collapsed down to the second floor.
According to Pasechnik, the Ukrainian Armed Forces deliberately struck sleeping defenseless children. At the time of the attack, 86 teenagers aged 14 to 18 were inside the building.
According to preliminary data, four people were killed and another 35 were injured. About 18 students may still remain under the rubble.
Rescue work continues at the scene, but Emergencies Ministry units had to suspend operations because of the threat of new Ukrainian attacks. In addition to the dormitory, administrative buildings, shops and private houses were damaged in Starobelsk. One man was injured in one of the houses and received medical assistance.
The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on a terrorist attack.
