Russia Uses Oreshnik in Retaliatory Strike on Ukraine

Russia says it used Oreshnik, Iskander, Kinzhal and Tsirkon missiles in a retaliatory strike on Ukrainian military targets, including Kiev.
The Russian Defence Ministry said that during the night of May 24, Russian forces carried out what it described as a retaliatory strike against military targets in Ukraine, including the use of the Oreshnik missile system.
According to the ministry, the strike was launched in response to attacks on civilian facilities inside Russia. The military department said ballistic Oreshnik missiles were used as part of the operation.
The ministry added that Iskander aeroballistic missiles, Kinzhal hypersonic missiles and Tsirkon cruise missiles were also involved. The main targets were military command facilities, air bases and enterprises of Ukraine’s defence industry.
Russian forces also used cruise missiles launched from air, sea and land platforms, as well as drones. The Defence Ministry stated that all planned targets had been hit.
According to military Telegram channels, the strikes on Kiev and the Kiev Region lasted for about five hours. Sources reported damage in different districts of the capital, with explosions recorded at more than 40 sites. The attack was described as one of the largest strikes on Kiev in the past two years.
Explosions were also reported in Cherkassy, Kirovograd, and in the Poltava, Sumy, Khmelnitsky and other regions of Ukraine. One of the strikes hit Starokonstantinov, where a military airfield is located.
