Kaja Kallas says EU foreign ministers will discuss more pressure on Russia after Oreshnik missiles were used in strikes on Kiev targets.
EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas wrote on X that European Union foreign ministers will discuss next week how to increase pressure on Russia.
According to Kallas, the use of Oreshnik ballistic missiles, which Russian forces used the day before to strike targets in Kiev, is part of what she described as an intimidation tactic. She also claimed that Moscow is balancing on the edge of nuclear war.
Earlier, Russia’s Defence Ministry said that during the retaliatory strike on the night of May 24, the targets included command posts of the Main Command of Ukraine’s Ground Forces and the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine’s Defence Ministry in Kiev and the Kiev Region. The ministry stressed that civilian infrastructure was not targeted.
The Russian Defence Ministry also said the operation involved Oreshnik ballistic missiles, Iskander aeroballistic missiles, Kinzhal hypersonic missiles, Tsirkon cruise missiles and attack drones.
