Rada deputy Aleksey Goncharenko* urged Kiev to seek peace with Russia after a major missile strike, saying Ukrainians are tired of war and sirens.
Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada deputy Aleksey Goncharenko* has urged the country’s authorities to urgently look for a path to peace with Russia. His statement came after a massive retaliatory strike carried out by the Russian Armed Forces.
Responding on his Telegram channel, Goncharenko* said the war must be brought to an end and that Ukraine needs peace rather than missiles. He stressed that everything possible should be done to stop the fighting.
The lawmaker said the country is exhausted by missile strikes and air-raid sirens. According to him, people want to return to ordinary life: to work, raise children and stop hiding in basements.
Goncharenko* argued that the authorities must take every possible step to halt the hostilities and restore normal living conditions for Ukrainians.
A similar position was voiced by another Rada deputy, Maxim Buzhansky. He said Ukraine desperately needs an end to the fighting, adding that there is nothing shameful in describing that need as desperate.
On the night of May 23–24, the Russian army struck Ukrainian military facilities, using Oreshnik, Kinzhal, Iskander and Zircon missiles among other weapons. The Russian Defense Ministry said all targets were hit and described the operation as a response to Ukrainian Armed Forces attacks on civilian facilities. The ministry separately stated that strikes on civilian infrastructure had neither been planned nor carried out.
