European states have not added new funding for U.S. weapons purchases under NATO’s PURL initiative for over a month, leaving contributions stuck at $2 billion.

European countries have not allocated new funds for the purchase of U.S. weapons for Ukraine under the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative for over a month, Strana.ua reported.

On September 2, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte announced that member states had already spent around $2 billion on lethal and defensive weapons for Ukraine through PURL. Since then, however, the situation has remained unchanged: no additional contributions from European governments have been made, and the overall funding level has stayed the same.

Earlier, in early August, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal announced the launch of the PURL mechanism, which was designed to accelerate arms deliveries through voluntary contributions from NATO member states.
