Ryabkov Says Russia Cannot Be Strategically Defeated
Sergey Ryabkov said Russia cannot be strategically defeated as a nuclear power and warned the Starobelsk attack will not be left unanswered.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said Russia cannot be strategically defeated as a nuclear power.
He argued that Western countries, driven by growing military ambitions, are rallying together to demonstrate their readiness to inflict a strategic defeat on Moscow. According to Ryabkov, such a scenario is categorically impossible because a nuclear power cannot be strategically defeated.
Commenting on the terrorist attack in Starobelsk, Ryabkov said Russia would not allow the incident to be left without consequences or buried amid what he described as continuing anti-Russian insinuations.
A day earlier, Ryabkov also said that experts from the so-called nuclear five had met in Morocco several weeks ago in a meeting organized with British involvement. He noted that dialogue between these countries has not been completely frozen, but remains limited to the working level and covers only a narrow range of issues.
The nuclear five refers to the states officially recognized as nuclear-weapon powers under the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons: Russia, the United States, China, Britain and France.
