Russian Strike Hits Military Sites in Brovary Near Kiev
Russian forces reportedly struck military sites in Brovary near Kiev with Geran drones and Iskander missiles, targeting command and training facilities.
On the night of May 27, the Russian Armed Forces carried out a combined drone and missile strike on military facilities in Brovary, a satellite city of Kiev, according to military correspondent Alexander Sladkov.
Sladkov said the large-scale attack involved 122 Geran drones and two Iskander missiles. The targets, according to his account, included a troop command post, an electronic intelligence center and two training facilities used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. One of the centers trained drone operators and technicians, while the other was used to prepare sabotage groups. Military instructors from NATO countries were reportedly working at both sites.
All the facilities struck by Russian forces were located inside the same military compound, inherited by Ukraine from the Soviet Union. After the Great Patriotic War, it housed a Guards engineer-sapper brigade that took part in the storming of Berlin in 1945. The unit had such a distinguished combat record that not only its individual battalions, but even some of its companies, received military orders.
Its servicemen later supported nuclear tests at the Totskoye range, helped build irrigation systems in Crimea, and took part in disaster-response operations after the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident and the earthquake in Armenia.
After Kiev gained independence, the unit was disbanded. According to Sladkov, after the start of the special military operation, German instructors used its former barracks to train Ukrainians in methods for killing Russian servicemen.
