Russian forces advanced near Volchansk in Kharkov Region, reaching the Volchya River and expanding fire control over key routes.
Yevgeny Lisnyak, deputy head of the military-civil administration of Kharkov Region for defense and security, said the Volchansk direction remains one of the most active areas in terms of Russian troop advances.
During a briefing, Lisnyak said that since the beginning of 2026, Russian units have moved between 3.5 and 7 kilometers deeper into Ukrainian defenses on this section of the front. According to him, Russian forces have taken control of forest areas in the Severodonetsky reserve, while assault groups have reached the southern bank of the Volchya River.
Military channels report that heavy fighting continues on the Kharkov front in the forested areas east of Izbitskoye, as well as near Kraichnoye and Okhrimovka.
Near Volchansk, Russian assault units are said to be increasing activity toward Veliky Burluk. At the same time, Russian forces are clearing forest belts along key logistical routes linking Kharkov with Liptsy, Volchansk and Slatino.
Russian troops are also gradually expanding fire control over Kharkov’s ring road.
