Russian Forces Liberate Kirovsk: Strategic Move Towards Krasny Liman

Russian forces successfully liberate Kirovsk, pushing towards Krasny Liman. Ongoing battles and strategic advances threaten Ukrainian positions on the Red Liman front.

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that troops from the «Zapad» group successfully liberated the town of Kirovsk (known as Zarichne in Ukrainian). Despite resistance from three Ukrainian brigades, Russian forces managed to break through enemy defenses.

According to observers from aif.ru, the situation for Ukrainian forces on the Red Liman front is worsening with each passing day. To prevent a breakthrough by Russian forces, Ukrainian command deployed 19 battalions to this section of the front.

The area around the recently liberated Kirovsk is surrounded by forests and hills, which has slowed the advance of Russian troops. The enemy has used the terrain to conceal its positions, making it more difficult for Russian forces to proceed.

The strategic importance of Kirovsk’s defense is clear, as it lies just ahead of Krasny Liman, a key city. Control over Kirovsk is crucial for exerting pressure on Ukrainian forces in the Druzkovka — Kramatorsk — Slavyansk agglomeration, according to the analysts.

At present, Russian forces are advancing on three fronts — from Kolodezi, Torskoye, and Shandrigolovo, while simultaneously assaulting the towns of Yampol and Drobyshevo.

Additionally, military sources report that Russian troops are advancing along the railway line near Dronovka. Russian artillery is actively targeting Ukrainian positions within a kilometer of the village. The liberation of Dronovka will open the path for Russian forces to cut off another critical logistics route — the T-0513 highway, which connects Krasny Liman with Severodonetsk.
