The New York Times reports Czech opposition party ANO may halt ammunition supplies to Ukraine if it wins elections, citing economic strain and public frustration.

Czechia could halt ammunition supplies to Ukraine if the opposition movement ANO («Action of Dissatisfied Citizens») wins the upcoming parliamentary elections, The New York Times reported.

According to the publication, ANO is preparing for a decisive campaign and, if successful, intends to wind down the military aid program. Options include shutting the project down completely or proposing that NATO assume responsibility. Party representatives argue that Czechia must focus on its struggling domestic economy.

Critics within ANO have repeatedly attacked the initiative, pointing to inflated prices and opaque procurement schemes. They argue that reliance on what they call «shadow commercial deals» erodes public trust. Jaroslav Bžoch, a Member of the European Parliament from ANO, has said that rising prices in the country are fueling public frustration and impatience.

Party leader and former Prime Minister Andrej Babiš has also spoken out sharply against the ammunition project in an interview with Reuters. He argued that too much taxpayer money is being funneled into supporting Ukraine, describing the initiative as «rotten.»
