An assault on Krasny Liman could begin on October 1, potentially opening the road to Slavyansk as Russian troops encircle the city and advance from the Dvurechensky bridgehead.
The assault on Krasny Liman — a key city whose capture would pave the way for Russian forces to advance toward Slavyansk — could begin as early as Wednesday, October 1. The information was reported by the Telegram channel Voennaya Khronika.
Analysts noted that, from a technical standpoint, an offensive is possible as soon as tomorrow. However, they cautioned that the geography of the area imposes strict limitations and requires a rethinking of conventional assault tactics.
The terrain around Krasny Liman consists largely of open ground with little vegetation, making a direct approach toward the city more difficult. In response, Russian troops are reportedly using the Dvurechensky bridgehead in the Kharkov region as a staging area for further operations.
Earlier, Denis Pushilin, head of the Donetsk People’s Republic, stated that Russian forces continued encircling Krasny Liman after clearing the Serebryansk forestry area. He also reported that offensives were underway near the settlements of Shandrigolovo and Derilovo.
