Russia Downs 310 Ukrainian Drones in Overnight Attacks

Russian air defenses destroyed 310 Ukrainian drones overnight, with attacks reported across several regions and casualties in Belgorod, officials said.

Russian air defenses intercepted and destroyed 310 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones overnight on June 8, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

According to the ministry, the drones were shot down over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, Rostov, Volgograd, Saratov, Oryol, Tula, Lipetsk, Kaluga and Ryazan regions, Krasnodar Territory, the Moscow region, the Republic of Crimea, and the Black and Azov seas.

A day earlier, between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Moscow time, air defense units on duty intercepted another 58 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones. They were destroyed over the Belgorod, Bryansk and Kursk regions, Krasnodar Territory, Crimea and the Black Sea.

In the Tula region, Governor Dmitry Milyayev said six Ukrainian drones were destroyed overnight. No one was injured, and preliminary checks found no damage to buildings or infrastructure facilities.

The Belgorod region came under 68 attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine over the past day, according to the region’s acting governor, Alexander Shuvayev. Strikes hit Belgorod, as well as the Belgorodsky, Borisovsky, Valuysky, Volokonovsky, Grayvoronsky, Krasnoyaruzhsky, Prokhorovsky, Rakityansky, Shebekinsky and Yakovlevsky districts.

Shuvayev said artillery and multiple-launch rocket systems were used nine times, while explosive devices were dropped from drones in five other attacks. Air defense crews and other units involved in the response shot down 78 drones.

A civilian woman was killed in a strike on the Belgorodsky district. The acting governor offered condolences to her family and relatives.

Five more civilians, including a child, were injured in the Belgorodsky, Grayvoronsky, Prokhorovsky and Yakovlevsky districts. A 14-year-old boy was taken to a specialized department of the regional children’s clinical hospital. Doctors described his condition as moderate and are providing him with all necessary treatment.
