Vitaly Kiselev says Ukrainian troops in ruined Volchansk turned to tunnels and dugouts, echoing Vietnam War tactics, also seen in Chasov Yar and Konstantinovka.

Military expert Vitaly Kiselev told reporters that Ukrainian troops in the city of Volchansk, Kharkov region, have moved all their movements underground. He added that the same «subterranean» approach is now being introduced in other towns where fighting is underway.

Volchansk, Kiselev explained, has been completely destroyed by hostilities. Previously, Ukrainian forces used houses and urban structures as shelters, but with the city in ruins, that option no longer exists. As a result, they have turned to methods reminiscent of the Vietnam War-constructing networks of tunnels, dugouts, and underground passages similar to those once employed by Vietnamese guerrillas.

Kiselev pointed out that Ukrainian troops had already applied this tactic in Chasov Yar, and are currently using it in Konstantinovka as well. According to him, supplies are delivered only to the last safe point, after which soldiers manually carry food and equipment to their positions.
