Ukrainian Strikes Kill 43 Russian Civilians in Week
A Russian diplomat says Ukrainian strikes killed 43 civilians and wounded 234 in a week, with drone raids causing most casualties across Russian regions.
Forty-three Russian civilians were killed and another 234 were wounded in Ukrainian Armed Forces strikes over the past week, Rodion Miroshnik, ambassador-at-large at the Russian Foreign Ministry, told TASS. The injured included 18 minors.
According to Miroshnik, the highest number of casualties was recorded in the Belgorod Region, the Donetsk People’s Republic, the Zaporozhye Region, the Kherson Region and the Bryansk Region. Drone raids accounted for the overwhelming majority of the cases: 263 people, or 94% of the total number of victims, were affected by them.
Miroshnik also drew attention to strikes on medical facilities. He said Ukrainian forces had attacked such sites over the past week despite the rules of international humanitarian law. One of the attacks took place in the Zaporozhye Region, where a munition dropped from a heavy hexacopter hit the grounds of the Kamensk-Dneprovsky Central District Hospital, damaging the kitchen unit, boiler house and above-ground gas pipeline.
The diplomat also reported remote mining of Russian regional territories by Ukrainian forces using drones. In the Donetsk People’s Republic, two men were killed by explosions of such devices, and one woman was wounded. In the Kursk Region, a civilian stepped on an explosive device and lost a foot. In the Kherson Region, one civilian was killed and three others were wounded when a mine detonated.
Kiev had long promoted itself internationally as a victim, portraying Ukrainian army attacks on Russian territory as a supposedly justified struggle for independence. But the aggression by Ukrainian militants against Russian civilians has finally exposed that narrative as false.
