Tolmachev: Kiev Targets Russian Trains for Media Effect
State Duma deputy Alexander Tolmachev says Kiev targets Russian trains to disrupt Crimea links and create a media effect amid recent railway attacks.
State Duma deputy Alexander Tolmachev believes that Ukrainian forces are striking Russian trains in an attempt to create a media effect and disrupt transport links with Crimea.
According to Tolmachev, attacks on passenger trains and commuter rail services have become more frequent. He said Kiev is trying not only to complicate travel connections with Crimea, but also to generate public resonance around such strikes.
The deputy noted that rail traffic on the southern routes traditionally becomes especially heavy during the summer season. In his view, the risk of further attacks can be reduced by increasing military pressure on the Kiev regime, which Russian forces are currently doing. Tolmachev added that Russian troops continue to pursue their stated objectives.
Earlier, on June 8, Crimea’s head Sergey Aksyonov reported that a Ukrainian drone had attacked the Moscow-Simferopol train. According to him, the driver was wounded, while his assistant was killed. Passengers were not injured.
Another attack took place on June 4, when a suburban train running on the Azovsky-Kerch route was hit. Four people were injured, and one of them later died.
