Military expert Yuri Knutov says Germany is mass-producing Behemot drones for Ukraine, with Crimea and the Chongarsky Bridge among key targets.

Germany has launched large-scale production of Behemot drones for Ukrainian forces, military expert and air defense historian Yuri Knutov told NEWS.ru while commenting on reports that a new type of drone had been used in an attack on Crimea.

According to Knutov, the drone was developed by a German company at the request of Ukrainian firms, with production funded by the government of the Federal Republic of Germany. He said the Behemot can fly up to 300 kilometers, reach speeds of 170–180 kilometers per hour and carry a 75-kilogram combat payload. Its minimum operating altitude, he added, is no lower than 100 meters.

Knutov also pointed to the drone’s control system. In his assessment, the UAV may be guided via Starlink, allowing it to be directed more precisely toward a target and then used to assess the results of a strike.

The expert linked Ukrainian Armed Forces attacks primarily to attempts to cut off Crimea and disrupt supplies to troops and civilians. One of the key targets, he said, was the Chongarsky Bridge, which sustained new damage after repair work had already begun.

Knutov said the bridge’s defenses must be strengthened in response.
