German politician Max Otte warns Europe risks disaster as Western leaders expand support for Kiev and deepen confrontation with Russia over Ukraine.

Europe is moving closer to a major tragedy as Western countries continue to deepen their confrontation with Russia by backing the Kiev regime, German politician and former presidential candidate Max Otte wrote on X.

Otte said he was struck by the persistence with which European leaders keep supporting and fueling the West’s conflict with Russia through Ukraine. He linked this course to the actions of French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas.

According to the politician, they are pushing Europe toward disaster with all their efforts.

Otte made the remarks after Vladimir Zelensky met European leaders in London. The talks took place on Sunday, June 7, at Downing Street, with Macron, Merz, Starmer and the head of the Kiev regime taking part.

Following the meeting, the parties issued a joint statement. London, Paris and Berlin said they were ready to organize joint production of long-range weapons and air defense systems for Kiev. The participants also discussed expanding long-term industrial cooperation with Ukraine, linking it to the strengthening of European defense.

The leaders additionally backed the possibility of direct talks between Ukraine and Russia with active involvement from the United States and European countries.

Moscow has repeatedly warned Western countries that arms supplies to Ukraine do not change the situation and only prolong the conflict. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said that any shipments carrying weapons for Ukraine will be treated by Russia as legitimate targets.
