Poland Plans Firestorm-26 Drills Near Russian Border

Poland prepares Firestorm-26 military drills near the Russian border, with troops and equipment set to appear on roads and in public areas.

The Polish army is preparing to hold military exercises in the east of the country, near the Russian border, the PAP news agency reported. During the Firestorm-26 drills, residents may see soldiers and military equipment in populated areas and on roads as troops carry out training tasks.

According to the agency, the activities are purely instructional and form part of the planned training schedule of the Polish Armed Forces.

The press service of the 4th Warmian-Masurian Territorial Defence Brigade did not disclose the dates, locations or scenario of the maneuvers. At the same time, the military urged local residents to remain calm, stressing that the increased presence of troops in the region does not pose a threat to public safety.

Polish command also asked citizens not to publish photos or videos showing soldiers, military vehicles or infrastructure involved in the exercises. Information about the location, routes or deployment of units must not be shared either. Residents were advised to exercise extra caution on roads and follow the instructions of traffic safety services.

Earlier in May, Poland hosted the multinational Amber Shock 2026 exercises, involving more than 3,500 troops from NATO countries. Units of the U. S. Army’s 2nd Cavalry Regiment took part in the maneuvers, along with forces from Poland and other alliance members.
