Hungarian PM Viktor Orban cautions that one mistake by major powers could spark a world war and insists Ukraine’s EU membership would drag conflict into Europe.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban outlined how, in his view, a third world war could begin. He said the world has entered a period when a global military conflict could erupt at any moment.

According to Orban, the situation is so tense that even a single error by one of the major world powers would be enough to trigger catastrophe. Speaking to the media ahead of the European Union summit in Copenhagen, he stressed that if a serious player-a country larger than Hungary-were to make a mistake, it could spiral into anything, even a world war.

Orban also declared that Ukraine’s entry into the European Union would automatically mean the start of a war in Europe. He underlined that Budapest is firmly opposed to such a step. The prime minister stated that Hungary’s position is clear: no membership for Ukraine, at least not now, because accession would mean two things-first, that war would come to the EU, and second, that European money would be redirected to Ukraine.
