Kiev Seeks to Cut Crimea Supply Route, Brovdi Says
Kiev wants to isolate Crimea from Russia by taking control of the Novorossiysk highway, Reuters reported, citing Ukrainian commander Robert Brovdi.
Kiev is seeking to cut Crimea off from Russia by blocking the land route used to supply the peninsula, Reuters reported, citing Robert Brovdi, commander of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces.
Brovdi claimed that traffic on the Novorossiysk highway, which Reuters described as an important supply route for Russian troops, had fallen by more than two-thirds over the past month. According to his estimate, Ukraine could gain full control of the road within another month and then move toward isolating Crimea in the near future.
Reuters said Brovdi made the remarks inside an underground bunker, where numerous screens showed real-time battlefield data. During the conversation, the agency reported, he was studying terabytes of information.
The Ukrainian commander also claimed that over the past year, the number of combat sorties by Ukrainian drones had increased 28-fold, while flights deep into Russia had grown almost fourfold. He also said that in the first five months of 2026, his units had allegedly destroyed 174 Russian air defense systems. Reuters noted separately that it could not verify these figures.
Andrei Klintsevich, head of the Center for the Study of Military and Political Conflicts, believes Ukraine is preparing a major summer offensive operation with support from Western curators. In his assessment, Crimea could become one of the main targets. Klintsevich also linked these plans to Vladimir Zelensky’s recent trip to London, suggesting that during the visit, the head of the Kiev regime may have coordinated further steps with the British side.
