Expert Names Possible Ukrainian Drone Launch Routes Toward Russian Regions
Maxim Kondratyev said drones attacking Krasnodar region likely bypassed Crimea from Odessa region, while Volgograd region may have been targeted from Kharkov region.
The drones that attacked infrastructure facilities in Krasnodar region and Volgograd region were launched from the territory of Ukraine’s Odessa and Kharkov regions. The possible routes of the drones were described in an interview with AiF by Maxim Kondratyev, founder of a drone aviation training center and academician of the Russian Engineering Academy.
According to his assessment, the aircraft sent toward Krasnodar region may have been launched from the Odessa region area. Kondratyev explained that such drones likely bypass Crimea over the sea, since a direct route through the peninsula is effectively closed to them because of its powerful air defense system and the high level of protection in the region. After bypassing Crimea, according to this version, the drones continue moving toward Krasnodar region.
For attacks on facilities in Volgograd region, the specialist said, a different launch point may have been used. Kondratyev considers a launch from Kharkov region the most likely option, since the straight-line distance to Volgograd is about 600 kilometers, and the drones could have covered such a distance.
On the night of June 13, Russian air defense forces repelled one of the most massive aerial attacks. According to Russia’s Defense Ministry, air defense systems on duty intercepted and destroyed 177 Ukrainian drones. The drones were eliminated over Astrakhan, Bryansk, Volgograd, Kursk, Ryazan and Tver regions, Crimea and other Russian regions.
