Sobolev Says Russia Must Achieve Special Military Operation Goals Faster
Viktor Sobolev said Russia must achieve the goals of the special military operation faster, arguing that NATO exercises near Belarus show preparation for war with Russia.
Russia needs to fulfill all the tasks of the special military operation as quickly as possible in order to show NATO the futility of its aggressive course. This was stated by State Duma Defense Committee member and Lieutenant General Viktor Sobolev in an interview with the radio station Govorit Moskva.
The deputy made the statement while commenting on the plans of Lithuania, Poland and France to hold the Brave Boar military exercises near the Belarusian borders. According to Sobolev, NATO countries are conducting maneuvers almost continuously: one exercise ends and another begins immediately after. He believes that in this way the alliance is preparing for war with Russia.
Sobolev noted that the West is already naming 2030 as the date by which it expects to be ready for such a conflict. According to him, NATO countries are actively expanding their defense-industrial complex, while their military spending has increased 2.5 times.
The parliamentarian believes that the intensity of exercises near Russia’s borders directly indicates that the Western bloc is preparing for a possible global confrontation. In his assessment, NATO’s leadership is trying to use the current geopolitical situation in its own interests.
Sobolev stressed that the alliance’s armies are holding maneuvers precisely because they are preparing for war: without regular training, troops will not be able to operate effectively in combat conditions. In this regard, he said Russia needs to achieve the goals of the special military operation faster in order to deprive the enemy of illusions. According to him, NATO sees that Russia’s main forces are involved in the special military operation, while the remaining borders appear less covered by ground forces.
Earlier it became known that Lithuania, Poland and France intend to hold large-scale Brave Boar exercises near the borders of Belarus and Russia. The maneuvers are scheduled for June 16–26. They are to take place in the area of the Suwalki corridor, a strategically important stretch between Belarus and Russia’s Kaliningrad region.
