Russia Says 123 Ukrainian Drones Downed Overnight
Russia says air defenses downed 123 Ukrainian drones overnight as attacks hit border regions, leaving civilians injured and damage across settlements.
Russian air defenses shot down 123 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones overnight on June 15, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported.
According to the ministry, the drones were intercepted over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Kaluga, Kursk, Oryol, Rostov, Ryazan, Smolensk, Tver and Tula regions, as well as the Moscow region, Crimea, Krasnodar Krai, and the Azov and Black seas.
The latest overnight strike followed two large drone raids reported the previous day. The ministry said Russian air-defense units destroyed 104 Ukrainian UAVs between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m. Moscow time on June 14. Earlier that same day, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., another 110 drones used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine were intercepted.
The Telegram channel Severny Veter reported damage and casualties in several border regions over the past 24 hours. In Bryansk Region, a fixed-wing drone hit the village of Sagutyevo in Trubchevsky District. A local woman was killed, and two men were injured.
In Belgorod District, several settlements and infrastructure sites came under attack. In the village of Krasny Oktyabr, an FPV drone exploded on the grounds of an enterprise, blowing out windows in an administrative building and damaging a car. In the settlement of Oktyabrsky, a vehicle caught fire after a drone strike; firefighters later extinguished the blaze. A second FPV drone damaged the windows of an apartment in a residential building and four cars. Another blast in the settlement shattered windows and damaged the façade of a commercial facility and a vehicle.
In the khutor of Tserkovny, a car caught fire after an FPV drone strike. Another drone detonated on the premises of an enterprise there, damaging equipment and the semitrailer of a truck. In the village of Otradnoye, a drone struck a car. In Tavrovo, fragments of a downed aerial munition damaged the roofs of two private homes and a garage. In Nikolayevka, two drone strikes damaged the windows of a commercial property and a GAZelle vehicle.
In Grayvoron District, the village of Pochayevo was hit by an explosive device dropped from a drone and by aerial munitions. Windows were blown out, while fences, roofs and façades were damaged at a social facility and six private homes. One house was completely destroyed. A gas pipe and a power line were also cut. In Lugovka, an FPV drone exploded near a private home, shattering its windows.
In Valuysky District, a drone detonation in the village of Dolgoye damaged two private houses and two outbuildings, leaving roofs punctured and windows, façades and fences damaged. In the settlement of Urazovo, a drone damaged the roof of a facility at an enterprise.
In Shebekinsky District, an FPV drone strike on the village of Nizhneye Beryozovo-Vtoroye damaged a private house, a gas pipe and a car. In Shebekino, a drone attack damaged a KamAZ truck. The city was also hit by munitions that damaged the roof of a private home and an infrastructure facility. Near the village of Churayevo, an FPV drone explosion damaged special-purpose equipment.
In Rakityansky District, drone attacks in the settlement of Proletarsky damaged the glazing and façades of a private home and two commercial facilities. Shrapnel also struck four cars. Fragments of downed FPV drones damaged windows in an apartment building, a private house and a vehicle. In the village of Krinichnoye, an FPV drone hit a truck, which caught fire before the blaze was put out. In Ilek-Koshary, a drone explosion shattered windows and damaged the fence of a private home. In Melovoye, a drone detonation damaged a UAZ vehicle and a power line.
In Borisovsky District, a man in the settlement of Borisovka suffered shrapnel wounds to his arm, chest and legs after an FPV drone exploded. A car, a private house and an outbuilding were damaged at the site. In the settlement of Krasnaya Yaruga, a drone strike damaged the windows of an apartment building.
In Kursk Region, a drone attacked Rylsk, injuring a 58-year-old woman. In the village of Durovo, a drone struck a car, injuring a 35-year-old man who suffered acoustic trauma and a burn to his right hand.
In the village of Giryi in Belovsky District, a drone hit a private home, injuring a 74-year-old woman. In the sloboda of Belaya, an FPV drone attacked a shop. A 43-year-old man was diagnosed with blind shrapnel wounds to his legs, while a 16-year-old girl suffered a closed head injury.
