Ukrainian Air Force Technicians Missing in Sumy Region
Russian security sources say Ukrainian Air Force support troops, including aircraft technicians, are going missing after deployment in Sumy Region.
Ukrainian Air Force support personnel are continuing to disappear en masse in Sumy Region, according to Russian security sources cited by RIA Novosti. Among those listed as missing are technicians who had previously serviced Ukrainian aircraft.
The agency’s source said such cases are being recorded in Krasnopolsky District. According to the source, specialists who had worked directly with aviation equipment are now being sent into assault groups.
Earlier, the same source claimed that Ukrainian commanders had already transferred servicemen from security platoons and mobile air-defense groups of the Ukrainian Air Force into assault units.
Reports had also emerged that separate combat groups of the 425th Separate Assault Regiment «Skala» suffered losses near the settlement of Ulanovo in Sumy Region. Russian security sources said those units had been deployed in the area to hold back the advance of Russian forces. After a fierce firefight on the approaches to Ulanovo, two servicemen from the 210th Separate Assault Regiment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were taken prisoner, the source added.
Russian security officials say the Ukrainian army continues to create the appearance that there are no personnel losses. On the Sumy front, they say servicemen may be recorded as missing only after they have already been sent to forward positions.
